Closer monitoring for diabetes, hypertension, thyroid conditions, multiple pregnancy, previous complications and other risk factors.
Preparation and continuity of care supporting a safe vaginal birth whenever clinically appropriate.
Clear counselling and appropriate surgical care when Caesarean birth is the safer option for mother or baby.
Recovery, breastfeeding guidance, contraception and follow-up after delivery.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Book after a positive pregnancy test, and sooner if you have pain, bleeding, previous pregnancy complications or an existing medical condition.
Heavy bleeding, severe abdominal pain, fainting, persistent vomiting, fever, severe headache, reduced fetal movement later in pregnancy or fluid leakage require prompt medical advice.
Scan timing depends on the pregnancy and medical history. Common milestones include an early dating scan, first-trimester screening and an anomaly scan, with additional scans when clinically needed.
Do not stop essential medicine suddenly, but arrange an early review because some medicines are continued, changed or adjusted during pregnancy.
